Details

This is the Mozilla 0.8.1 Release Notes tracking bug. Please note bugs which
should be added to or removed from the 0.8 Release Notes
http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla0.8/
Gopher support (bug 49334) has now been added to mozilla. However, some features
are still missing:

- (windows only) mozilla is not registered as a handler for gopher urls. (bug
70264)
- gopher searchs are supported yet (bug 70267)
- for security reasons, mozilla will only talk to gopher servers on the
well-known gopher port (port 70). Mozilla will connect to this port for any
gopher url, regardless of the port the user entered (bug 71916)

Asa: Feel free to reword.
Remove:
bug #57292
bug #69365
bug #65220
bug #67574
bug #67944
bug #53152
bug #67988

bug 53440 should be replaced with #51241

Suggesting to add:

bug #67442 (although it's not as frequent as before)
bug #30841
bug #28348 (annoying for large messages/slow connections)
bug #70812 (for most keyboard bugs recently appeared)
bug #66118 (but description should definitely include most Navigator
categories). This bug was already described with the abiguous phrase "The 'ok'
command doesn't always function in prefrences" (my fault, I admit).
bug #60780 (workaround=reload page)

Sorry for not including bug summaries, it was too difficult since I was not able
to use copy-paste in 2001031304 build :(

OK, walk84's patch got checked in, so the gopher release item should read:

Gopher support has now been checked into the tree (bug 49334). However searches
using the gopher protocol have not yet been implemented (bug 70267)
checking in draft of

shaver, what was the thing you wanted addded to the release notes?
1. Fixed bug #50424 Run moz while moz is already running --> nothing happens (if
it will finally make it in the release).
2. I somewhat insist on bug #60780 "hitting STOP before any rendering is done
causes current web page to become inactive", because it has some dupes and it
can be easily reproduced in slow connections (V90 - ISDN).
3. Add to bug #39310 description: Status bar says 'Transferring data from ...'
when page is done loading.
4. "Improved theme switching" in What's New section is bug #68662.
Needless to say Release Notes are greatly improved. Just as Mozilla approaches
maturity in the last 3 months :)
I forgot to report that a few file names are missing from "Files Created or
Used" section (win32):
1. $windir\mozver.dat
2. $windir\MozillaUninstall.exe
3. folder $windir\Application Data\Mozilla (Win98) or $windir\Mozilla (Win95). I
am not sure about Win2k.
checked in a new version covering all items listed here. It'll take
a while to show up on the web site. I removed "draft" from the title.
