User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0 Build ID: 20120601045813 Steps to reproduce: After installing flash 11.3 the new flash sandboxed causes the plugincontainer to crash. open yt video, close the tab. close firefox (or wait until the process plugincontainer.exe + the newer 2 processes flashplugin in task manager disappear). close firefox. after closing ff, I go a crash of contaniner.exe. ff13, vista 32 sp2. the first crash of plugincontainer in my life!!! I guess, after installing flash 11.3, firefox become unable to close properly the plugincontainer.exe (even if in the meantime you dont see this process in task!! this is a new behaviour). a mozilla container with...a sandbox from adobe? here the log Nome evento problema: BEX Nome applicazione: plugin-container.exe Versione applicazione: 13.0.0.4535 Timestamp applicazione: 4fc8de63 Nome modulo con errori: NPSWF32_11_3_300_257.dll_unloaded Versione modulo con errori: 0.0.0.0 Timestamp modulo con errori: 4fc821fc Offset eccezione: 64f99903 Codice eccezione: c0000005 Dati eccezione: 00000008 Versione SO: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 ID impostazioni locali: 1040 Informazioni aggiuntive 1: 27dd Ulteriori informazioni 2: b76caa7c2627bab0b68e16f682ad848f Ulteriori informazioni 3: ff08 Ulteriori informazioni 4: 4fae96fb14b9fa70f5513f6819ad1b00 ==>>> very important: disabling protection mode in flash 11.3, all is ok!!! no crash (because > no additional processes in task manager _flashplugin_-- that conflict with container ,) please fix it . thanks.

Let's reopen it as I am not sure it's 100% sure it's the same issue as bug 747683.

It seems a common issue (see http://www.geckozone.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=105834). Here is Adobe's side bug: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3210025
Keywords: common-issue?
Summary: The New flash sandboxed crashes plugincontainer → [adbe 3210025] plugin-container crash with Flash 11.3 "Protected Mode for Firefox"

No need to track - current thinking is this is a Flash issue, not a Firefox issue.
Due to the fact that the flash sandbox is *strongly* related to the ff's container (modifying his code?), I guess that adobe and mozilla should to co-operate toghether for this issue, becuase the flash sandbox was released from adobe + mozilla...
as it happens (or it should to happen) with youtube & adobe flash, I guess.

candaules, does it happen in the latest Nightly build (http://nightly.mozilla.org/) that contains the fix of bug 747683?

(In reply to candaules from comment #10) > hi, at the moment on my "main" pc I cannot try the nightly :( :( > (vista32 sp2 home premium) So try Firefox 13.0.1: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/13.0.1-candidates/build1/win32/

I initially filed a comment at bug 763237 ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=763237#c41 ), confirming such behaviour, even including a very extesive description of the environment that the issue occurred in. After downloading the 13.0.1 candidate, I can say that so far, so good: Process Explorer shows the following structure of how the processes were executed one after another (thread-style): firefox.exe + plugin-container.exe + FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_257.exe + FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_257.exe OS: Vista Home Basic 32-bit on a 64-bit CPU.

Hi, installed 13.0.1 & still seeing the browser freeze when viewing a page containing flash content. All other plugins are disabled. O/S: Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate (64-bit).

Mark, do you have a Windows prompt saying that Plugin Container for Firefox stopped working?
Comment 15•12 years ago
|
||
Scoobidiver. No Windows prompt appearing. All browser functions unresponsive. Windows Task Manager shows processes: firefox.exe *32 & plugin-container.exe * 32 bith with zero CPU activity.

Have found that browser becomes responsive again after a couple of minutes. However, freezes again as soon flash content of page clicked on.

Hi. FF13.0.1 resolved the issue with container.exe crash on exit firefox. ok. but... I still have the issue where when I visit a page with Flash content **the first time**, it causes the browser to loose focus. That doesn't happen with Protected Mode off!! no big problem ;)

Thanks candaules. So let's close this bug as a dupe of bug 747683. There's a plugin hang timeout that makes the plugin crashes when it hangs too long, so I think your issue is the top Flash 11.3 hanger, bug 763896.
