This is a meta bug for tracking purposes only. It "depends" on individual outstanding site bugs which break on Nav5 due to their use in JavaScript of document.layers (and the fact that Nav5 doesn't support document.layers) and is a way to track them to speed the contacting of site owners to encourage upgrades to the W3C DOM. Assign all such bugs which are entered into Bugzilla to ekrock for outbound evangelism. This meta bug is *not* for tracking bugs in which Gecko fails to lay out static LAYER tags correctly. Gecko *is* supposed to lay out LAYER tags on the HTML page. Assign those bugs to whoever's handling layout. NOTE: This meta bug depends on individual document.layers usage bugs, not the other way around! If you wish use this meta bug to track an individual HTML 4.0 bug, either make this bug depend on the individual bug, or in the individual bug, use this bug # in the "bugs which depend on this bug" field.

No longer going to use this META bug to track. Instead, such bugs should be tagged with [LAYER] and then INVALIDed, making them searchable and retrievable. INVALID.

Moving all [LAYER] bugs to Evangelism component for tracking and open-source evangelism by mozilla community members of sites that need to upgrade to support web standards such as HTML 4.0 (instead of LAYER/ILAYER) and the W3C DOM (instead of Nav4 document.layers[] or IE document.all()). Sites should be lobbied to do the upgrade using the email templates that are linked to from http://www.mozilla.org/newlayout/bugathon.html#layerbugs . When a site's owner has confirmed receipt of the message requesting an upgrade, the bug should be marked with the keyword evangelized to indicate that evangelism for that bug is complete. When the site finishes the upgrade and supports standards, the bug should be closed.

Closing this META tracking bug as it's been rendered obsolete by the new Evangelism component and evangwanted/evangelized keywords. [LAYER] bugs should now be reassigned to the Evangelism component for open-source evangelism.

Reassigning Evangelism bugs to me, the component's new owner. I would like to take this opportunity to thank nobody@mozilla.org for all of his dedication, contributions, and hard work, and wish him luck at his new job. Thanks, nobody.
