When switching from a tab to Firefox Start screen, shrink the tab with an animation into a static thumbnail on the tab strip on the Firefox Start screen. When selecting a tab on the Firefox Start screen, animate the tab from its static thumbnail form into a fullscreen viewport.

This is actually essential to making the overlay back and plus buttons work intuitively, and I am confident that it is not too difficult technically.

I talked to Stephen and Yuan extensively during the UX summit, and Stephen proposed a different interaction model that doesn't involve this animation. Since we think his proposal is the best to try first, I'm going to implement that and "wontfix" this bug. If we later discover that we want this after all, we can reopen it at that time.
