Hi, Starting version 0.9.1, theres a new feature enabling self diagnose for the page Encoding, and automaticly adjusting the browser encoding acordingly. The above site (a Hebrew site) apear allmost perfect under version 0.9.1 (Except for those question marks...), but in the next 2 versions it's wrong - the words direction is Oposite no matter what Encoding is being Chosen. Somebody should' check what's wrong. THKS, David Peled. (B.T.W - keep up the good work and Help us crash Bill...)

Over to BIDI. That timeframe corresponds to the BIDI landing....

Reporter, it seems you're referring to the text direction of this page, which can be left-to- right or right-to-left. The text on this page appears to run right-to-left to me, using Mac/ 2001080214 (0.9.3). I, of course, with the Hebrew Language Kit installed. Am I wrong in believing that Hebrew is a right-to-left language, and thus this page is displaying correctly?

Can someone attach screenshots? This may or may not be a dupe of bug 80577 and/or bug 81020.

The screenshot in attachment 44822 [details] shows a different problem from bug 80577 (see attachment 34529 [details] and attachment 34530 [details]). There the problem was with the order of the words: HELLO WORLD (logical) which should be rendered as DLROW OLLEH, was being rendered as OLLEH DLROW; in this case it is being rendered as ?ELLO WORLD. The other Mac bidi bugs have been futured, ccing ftang to decide what to do with this.
Would someone please confirm this bug or dismiss it? As I don't read Hebrew I really can't do it.
this is an old known bug. before bidi landed, macos naturally did things for us (although it would mess up for half of the pages). after bidi landed we started doing the right thing in general, except we knew that macos would reverse everything. -- picking a bug # and duping. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 80577 ***
