958815 - State of expanded/collapsed folders in folder pane is not remembered across startup/session

Steps to reproduce:

- At any any time after a new start of TB collapse some node in local folders and/and expand another node.
- Restart TB


Actual results:

- The changes to the state of expanded/collapsed folders are lost.
- Since months, the state of expanded/collapsed folders after restart is frozen. An in-between added IMAP account is always collapsed completely.


Expected results:

- The changed state of expanded/collapsed folders should be saved across sessions.
- A new account created should be expanded by default.

I'm using an older version of TB (17) but it does remember expanded folders between restarts.  You might have to stop TB and delete certain files in your TB profile.  I don't know exactly which ones... perhaps localstore.rdf or panacea.dat.  You can google those files.  I'd make a backup of your profile first.

thanks for your hints.
I tried to repair the problem with deleting localstore.rdf and panacea.dat, but unluckily this didn't help.
Any new ideas, where the source of my problem is?

As you mention version 17, I estimate, my problem happens since the update from 17 to 24 :-(

BTW: trying your hints cause a new problem, see bug 958997.

I'm on Ubuntu with TB 38. TB 45 is not released yet for Ubuntu, so I have to wait. From my experience, this could be some weeks. Feel free to remember me.

Assuming that thunderbird is shutting down cleanly, that you aren't deleting any files after shutdown, and you've tested in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Will be helpful if you can put on your calendar to check it with v45 by 2016-07-17

On my TB 38.7.2 installation I don't see the reported problem. 
Tested with IMAP folders with Unified folders, also with Local Folders... no problem

TB 45 is still not released for Ubuntu, so I have to wait until return from holidays.

No, the other bug is about threads in thread view, but this one is about collapsed/expanded folders in folder pane.
