We need information from BD per comment#4&#5, currently partner's R&D team is working on other region's SW so I assume this some early information via business discussion. You can check bug 1129845 (Mozilla only) for the regions partner is working on currently.

Per usual, keyboard UX would have been handled the keyboard UX people who work with that team, Omega and Carol, probably under direction from Bruce. Please contact Omega (setting ni? for him) after CNY to see if that work was completed as part of the Keyboard team's focus for 2.0 and later.

Hi Bruce, answering for Theo since I know the answer: nope, that bug does not cover the Lingala keyboard.
That patch only added a generic keyboard for some African locales by default, but this is not the Lingala specific-keyboard needed. Thanks!

Hi Ian,

Could you please help take a look at the layout to confirm whether it is correct?
Please note that we replace the 'q' with 'ɔ', and 'j' with 'ɛ'.
Do you think we should also include 'q' and 'j' as alternative chars for these keys? 
(i.e. when long pressing on 'ɔ', we would show 'q' as an alternative key)

In response to this comment, there is no firm requirement at this this time for Lingala i.e. no specific launch yet scheduled where Lingala is a mandatory requirements. As and when this changes, the mana page will be updated.

Hello Rudy,

According to our Lingala translator the layout is not correct. Please refer to his feedback below: 
As far as the two letters are not commonly used in Lingala. I would suggest the replacement of "ɔ" with "q" and "ɛ" with "j" on the keyboard". With that "ɔ" and "ɛ" could be used as alternatives.

Hello Rudy,

We have received the following feedback from our Lingala translator:

"The Lingala keyboard layout is correct. I have no problem with consonants alternatives. However for vowels alternatives, there are some adjustments needed. Some of them need to be dropped and replaced with those that are commonly used in Lingala, and some need to be added. Please refer to the following:
 
a: [ à , â , ǎ ]
i:  [ ï , î , í  ]
e: [ é , è , ê ]
o : [ ô , ó , ǒ ]
u : [ ù , û , ú ]"
