If implemented please add an option to keep using plain text for users who prefer Thunderbird's current behaviour:
- either a global pref
- or better yet: a text-html-switch as proposed for emails in bug 140800
Please enable Notes field for a record in Address Book (Contacts):
- To supports complex formatting, embedded files and pictures;
- To be saved in OpenDocument format (optional);
- To use LibreOffice Writer / LibreOfficeKit (optional).
Given Thunderbird's common core with Firefox, formatted text in the notes field would probably be HTML rather than in LibreOffice/OpenDocument format. Therefore (and for the "1 bug = 1 issue" rule) maybe the scope of this bug should be narrowed down to item 1 ?
added based on closed duplicate bug 1550302#c0:
Expected results:
An HTML/Markdown editor to allow for styling text.
Outlook has this and the lack of this feature in Tbird is the one feature preventing my clients from switching.
removing ".odt/.pst file import/export" from bug title, because this is the purpose of bug 153419
