Steps to reproduce:

Upgraded from MacOS Mojave to MacOS Catalina (10.15) public beta.

Actual results:

Thunderbird 60.7.2 - bolding of unread inbox messages (default inbox message list view). However meta data on new messages "knows" the messages are still unread because under ctrl-click on a message line the Mark Message >> Unread is greyed out (as Thunderbird still considers it unread).

Expected results:

Expect normal behavior, message lines bold for newly arriving unread messages.

It is likely something else is causing your messages to change state - an add-on, filters or other app.

I'm seeing the same behavior on the beta-3 drop of Catalina (19A501i) and version 60.7.2 of Thunderbird. No add-ons, filters, etc. Unread messages appear bold on Mojave, but not on Catalina.

Just out of curiosity, have you had error console open and sent yourself a test message to see if anything weird messages show up there? Same issue with 60.8.0 too I would guess?

I sent myself a message and the console showed the following error:

window.controllers/Controllers is deprecated. Do not use it for UA detection.

Is 10.15 supported?

10.15 will be released around October and TB 60 is out since almost one year - so not really. Then TB 68 should be out and it would be interesting if we'd have the same issue.

Bold text in trees seems not to be a problem as the folder tree shows some in bold.

The issue appears to be fixed in the beta-6 drop of Catalina (19A536g) with 69.0b1.

This is issue is still there with the official release of Catalina and 60.9.0

We're not fixing anything in TB 60.x any more. Is the issue present in TB 68.1.1?

I'm on the release update channel, 60.9.0
You guys should display this information in the info frame when Thunderbird is first launched, and tell people they have to upgrade. If it was not for your message, I'd never knew I was running an old non supported release :/

TB 60.9 is still supported, well, if there were a horrible security issue, we'd fix it. TB 68.2 will replace TB 60.9 when it's released at the end of October. So far it's by manual download only.

TB 68 is unusable for other reasons. Broken extensions, today Pane either doesn't open at all or displays events months away. I had to go back to TB 60.

I just installed 68.1.1. Bold works. It's just horrible with the dark user interface but that's not thunderbird, it's MacOS.

Yes, some extensions are still incompatible. I noticed that the upgrade makes them all look incompatible although there are updated versions around. The Today Pane has been the cause of a lot of pain, but it should be better in TB 68.1.2 slated for release towards the end of the week.

Switched to 68.1.1, bold now works. Today Pane still broken, I'll try 68.1.2 when it comes out.

I agree, issue exists!! on official Catalina release and Thunderbird 60.9.0. Reopen please.

I'm running TB 60.9.0 and just updated to Catalina today. New messages are not displaying in bold for me. Please reopen - this is causing workflow issues.

This WILL NOT BE FIXED IN TB 60.9 Use TB 68.1.1.
