Still get notification on junk if messages left in Inbox

Details
With the fix for bug 189289, junk that is auto-identified and moved to a junk
folder does not trigger a biff notification (alert, sound, trayicon, component
bar icon -- except, perhaps, for bug 228131).
However, if the junk is not automatically moved, notification still occurs.
See this in 1.6Final and 1.7a, Win2K.

Bug 365473 is a dup, but worded clearer, IMHO.

Actually, this is a double-post of bug 233930.

Actually, no, it is not. There are two separate symptoms described in the two bugs. At the time I opened these bugs, my understanding was that bugs were to be as specific as possible. I imagine that's still true, and you simply got a bee in your hat about this and decided to 'fix' all the bugs that misaligned with the foggy notion of what bug is what that exists in the swamp of your deteriorating brain.
So this got duped to a bug that then got duped to another bug, both of which are separate from the one you duped 233930 to, which then got duped to yet another bug. Real nice work, cowboy. I wish *I* had long-time Mozilla-veteran credit to burn.
I have no problem with collecting bugs in an umbrella, especially if someone is actually going to do work that addresses them all. I doubt that's the case here.

Eh, excuse me?

Please compare the initial descriptions of this bug and bug 233930. They are exactly the same - partially using the same words, otherwise saying the same. They definitely look like a double-post.
If they were not, you should have cross-linked them, back then or now. Even now, you did not state what's the difference between them, but rather choose to attack me quite offensively and explicitly.
Yes, I think there were way too many bugs about essentially the same issue, and I think the cleanup (even though not done in the best sequence) was very much needed. I stand to the result:
* Bug 272125 says that messages that are Thunderbird detects and marks as Junk should not trigger the alert (no matter where they are: Inbox or other folders).
* Bug 11041 allows users to suppress the alert for specific filtered messages.
I think that covers all symptoms reported, and is a sensible and straightforward implementation.

You do, but burning it on personal attacks doesn't benefit anyone.

I'm reopening this. The alleged dupe was itself duped to a bug that is making no mention of the particular problem described in this bug.
I leave junk in the Inbox for IMAP accounts rather than bother to download them to my (local) junk folder. I can't verify at the moment that this is occurring on trunk, because I only access my IMAP accounts from my home system, XP/64 on a dual-core Athlon, on which I can't reliably run trunk builds.
I'm removing Ben Bucksch from the CC list, and I'll thank him not to re-add himself.
