Yes, this would help a lot with mailing list archives.

If we'll implement just the mentioned functionality, it shouldn't be too hard
with XUL and CSS2 (assuming, the fix I have in mind works). I could take this as
an enhancement bug.

However, all of the functionality (except "Move" of course) of a standalone msg
is potentially interesting. So, if we could load the msg in the soon-to-be
implemented standalone msg window (bug #10875), we'd have a decent solution and
would also fix this bug (and View Source). But I don't know, how hard this would
be to implement.

The latter has been rejected (propably due to time constraints).

So I'll go with my first idea: Use CSS2's ":before"/":after"-pseudo-elements to
insert XUL "code" for "reply"/"reply all"/"forward"/"file "buttons.

If that doesn't work, I'll have to locate the (C++) code, which writes the
"envelope" (header with stylesheet link) for the msgs and hardcode the XUL code
there.

Changing personal priorities. Giving away most of my bugs :-( (reassigning to
default owner).

I will still track these bugs closely. If you need my input, feel free to ask me.

New owner: Please do *not* close these bugs (as WONTFIX or whatever you may
find) unless they are fixed. Rather, reassign to <nobody@mozilla.org>, if you
don't want to work on them.

"Copy to <folder>" must be available in this case, so the user has the option to
save the .eml file / internet resource in his msg store (e.g. Local Folders).

We will probably need this functionality for S/MIME.
If you want to implement it and need advice, please ask. I will help, *if* I can.

don't we wanna just open the Message window that works as of now.. see bug
11076? Outlook Express does this upon loading .eml file created with Mozilla
Mail/News, see bug 26201, and then this wouldn't be needed, unless someone
doesn't install Mail/News component. I'm not sure why this bug is still needed?
 Can someone clarify.
Is this a duplicate of bug 11076?
Not really. This is also for attached (forwarded) messages.
I really depend on this feature. Coworkers forward me mail as attachments and I
need to reply to the original mail. But when I open the forwarded meessage,
almost all of the Message menu is grayed out.

I'd love to see this fixed in 1.5.

This is absolutely crucial if I'm going to use Thunderbird at work. I am in
customer service and my manager sends me over a hundred support request emails
per day that I must reply directly to. Also nice would be the ability to drag
the emails to a "to do" folder so I can delete them as I reply. I'm sure that
feature is listed in here somewhere too.
Is anyone working on this?
I'd like to help, since this bug is really annoying me so I may as well work
directly on the solution :-)
> Is anyone working on this?

No, you are welcome to work on it. I can assign the bug to you, if you want.
