I don't know if this is by design, but most icons in the new Tb2 theme have a goldish, yellowish, beige colour. (envelope, pencil, folders, newsgroups) This makes it hard to distinguish each button right away.
I think my Windows background may also be adding to the beige feel. Here's what my toolbar looks like with a grey background: <http://ilias.ca/screenshots/tb2-toolbar-grey.png> Perhaps that's why the blue icons in Qute worked so well.

We definitely need a new look, it would be good to look over most of the icons for TB3. Also need to split out the windows and linux themes so we can make the Linux theme look good while also having real XP and Vista themes.
New theme -> upping severity, all platforms, nominating blocking-thunderbird3 to keep it on the radar. Bryan, assign to you?

Maybe this bug is better merged with bug 415415 or bug 406742?
I would think bug 406742, either dupe there or vice versa doesn't really matter. Duping.
