STR:

1. Browse to http://www.abendblatt.de/
2. Crash as the page loads.

CaminoTrunk 2006-08-28-22 (someone on irc crashed Cocoafox, too).  Talkback didn't fire, but Mac OS X crashlog to follow.

The 18branch doesn't crash, and the JEP [MRJplugin] is in the crashed thread (branch and trunk have the same JEP, so it's not the JEP directly), but not sure where this belongs (there's stuff about proxies and cairo and LiveConnect, too).

JavaScript-to-Java LiveConnect doesn't (currently) work on the trunk
-- because it was broken (on 2006-08-21) by a change to the
nsIScriptSecurityManager interface (see bug 348559 and bug 293973).

Sometimes this causes the JVM to commit suicide (thereby giving the
appearance of a crash) and sometimes this doesn't (so that something
just "doesn't work").  But in all cases you'll see at least one
occurrence of the following message in the Console (not the Java
Console):

> MRJ Plugin JEP: JavaScript-to-Java LiveConnect failed -- no security manager!

I've got this problem worked around in my current version of the Java
Embedding Plugin, which I plan to release in the next month or so as
JEP 0.9.5+h.

With this bug's URL I got a "crash" (along with the "no security
manager" message) when I tested with the Camino 2006-08-28-01-trunk
and Firefox 2006-08-28-06-trunk nightlies.  I tested on Mac OS X
10.3.9.

This bug is probably a dup of bug 350510.  But this bug is much
"neater", so I'm duping that bug to this one.  It's possible that some
of the issues at bug 350510 are unrelated to this bug -- so it's also
possible that the "dup" link should be broken at some point.

Steven, how's 0.9.5+h coming?  Busted or crashing LiveConnect on Mac OS X might be considered a blocker for Gecko 1.9 Alpha 1.

It's going well.  I should be able to release a new version (which
I'll actually be calling JEP 0.9.6) in the next week or two.  It will
resolve this bug (at least as described in comment 0, comment 1 and
comment 2).

I've just release JEP 0.9.6, which fixes this problem (as described in
comment #2 above).  See bug 364158.

i can confirm that the new plugin does not crash the URL listed on this bug. it also does not crash the facebook photo uploader.
