User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Tbird version 1.5.0.8 (20061112) In the process of setting up a new account, it would be helpful if the default database location was displayed BEFORE it was created. This would allow the user to have the data located WHERE they wanted if it was NOT going to be in the default location. Using the present process, it is necessary to GO BACK and EDIT this location. It is important that the user UNCHECK download mail now in the setup process to avoid having mail go into the default location. It would also help in keeping the hard drive somewhat uncluttered by never creating the mail structure in the default location. In my case, I have more than one account that drops mail into the same database. There is a gotcha with this -- If mail is being downloaded from multiple pop mail addresses, there are problems when more than one account tries to write the same mail database at the same time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1 2. 3.
On the one hand, this is an advanced function and so not appropriate for the wizard; on the other hand, there is no way to create an account *without* the wizard (bug 353838). See also bug 312431. I wouldn't mind seeing an Advanced page in the Wizard to handle a few settings like this.
