I know the new mail popup alert was improved recently, but I'd like to see a little more functionality in it.  Currently you get a link to see the E-Mail (which opens a new instance of Thunderbird for me rather than using the one that is already open...which isn't right), but I'd like to be able to delete the message, mark as read, mark as junk, etc, right from the popup.  This could possibly be done with a right-click menu?

One partial work-around is the Gnotifier add-on. It also works in KDE/Plasma.

Unfortunately, in current form, GNotifier can't be run on TB 60.

This is just a prototype at the moment. To test it, set mail.biff.alert.enabled_actions to 'action1,action2' then receive some mail.

I'm going to ship this bug and file follow-up bugs to add more actions and some UI for configuration. For now, you can follow the instructions in comment 18 once this patch lands on Daily. I don't think it's working on macOS 10.15 yet – bug 1943647 may fix that, I'm not really sure.
