As bug 423486 revealed, SeaMonkey is probably the only consumer of the toolkit help window now, so we probably better fork off or implement our own help viewer some time.
It may even be a good idea to think about adding things like an easier to work with database backend (maybe creating a SQLite DB from some text format list at build time, so that localizers don't need to mess with RDF files?), maybe even some clever full-text search (Thunderbird people are investigating use of the SQLite fulltext search engine/indexing with non-SQLite data sources for messages, but things like that could be a followup).

Well, we used to have our own help viewer, which was better than toolkit's :-P

Thunderbird is a potential user, assuming future progress on bug 253334.

It turns out (discussion in mozilla.dev.*) that there are other third party xulrunner applications that use the help viewer and gavin is of the view that the help viewer should be kept in toolkit.

The help viewer has been moved to Seamonkey in bug 686168 and deleted from Toolkit in bug 1290756. So we sort of have our own viewer which can be enhanced or replaced at will. Closing the bug as fixed before it dies of old age. Please reopen if not ok.
