When you press reload and Mozilla resends form data you're presented with an
warning saying:
"The page to be loaded has form elements with post data. Do you want to repost
the form data?"
I think the text is hard to understand.
IE has:
"The page cannot be refreshed without resending the information. Click Retry to
send the information again, or click Cancel to return to the page that you were
trying to view."
which is much more clearer!
->Networking. Marking Future since our UI is frozen, right?

arghh now the warning contains the word "Netscape 6"!
this is owned by radha.

I think the wording in the current warning is very good except for the Netscape
6 reference and minor things of correctness. IMO Henrik Gemal's proposed message
is a little bit too brief and cryptic. This is how I would propose to fix it.

Message as it stands now:

The page you are trying to view processes data you entered in an online
form(such as an order form or a membership application) earlier in this Netscape
6 session. To view the page, re-submitting the data, click Yes. Otherwise, click
Cancel.

My proposed changes:

The page you are trying to view processes data you entered in an online form
(such as an order form or a membership application) earlier in this Mozilla
session. To view the page, re-submitting the data, click OK. Otherwise, click
Cancel.

That sounds like plain English to me. IE's message makes me think, "the
information? what information?" because I might not realize that the page I'm
loading was a POST result, especially if I backed up to it by clicking the back
button multiple times.
.
isn't this a dupe of bug 55055?
Sorry but I didn't see this bug so we dumped on the one that created the
dialog.

gemal@gemal.dk thank you for working on this. If you would like to fix this,
please follow the consensus in bug 55055

The warning text should be shown in a placeholder page, like it was in 4.x, so
that the user can go Back and Forward past the page without being interrupted by
a dialog.

When that happens, this dialog doesn't need to say any more than `Repost form
data?', like the 4.x one did.

What about the following wording which is a mixture of the current dialog, some of

Matthew Thomas' suggestions from bug 55055, and my own ideas:

'The page that you want to view was generated using information that you entered in a

web page form. To view the page [browserName] needs to re-send the form details.

Sending these details will repeat any action that the form carried out (such as a search or

an on-line purchase).

Do you want to view the page, re-sending the original form details?'

Why can't "Netscape 6" be removed of the dialog NOW? We can improve the dialog
text latter, but "Netscape 6" shouldn't appear in Mozilla!
I's a trivial fix, so trivial that even I could do it!
Fix it; please, please, please... ;)
That should satisfy everyone until the real problem is fixed (bug 55055). Please
comment and approve.
I posted a related bug, marked as a duplicate of this one.
The main point of that bug (a trivial, picky point admittedly) is that the repost
description has a minor inconsistency - It says "..click 'yes' otherwise click
'cancel'..." when you can only click 'ok' or 'cancel'.This still hasn't been
fixed. But, I suppose it's even more trivial now, since the action of clicking
'ok' isn't the intended one!

The dialog will come up while you go tothe post result page using, back or
forward or even the go menu. We should either state all these methods to escape
out of the page or state none.

At this point, I would like to take the changes for "OK" and "Netscape 6"
problem. I would like to leave the rest as it is. Verah, can you provide your
comments.

Thanks,

Fixing the mention of "Netscape 6" and the button name is fine with me. r=verah

The new text is:
"The page you are trying to view was generated from data you entered in an
online form earlier in this browser session. If you resend the data, any action
that the form carried out (such as a search or online purchase) will be
repeated. To resend the data, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel."

I still think IE's text is better:
"The page cannot be refreshed without resending the information. Click Retry to
send the information again, or click Cancel to return to the page that you were
trying to view."
