It seems the "Warn Me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" feature and the corresponding "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page" information bar are confusing to users as it has several problems. I try to link them here.

I'm removing uiwanted since this is a metabug tracking UI rather than the bugs that would have UI itself

I suggest adding bug 1206443.

¡Hola Gijs!
What should happen to this bug?
It would appear that on recent versions of Firefox the "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" setting don't even exist anymore, sadly.
IHMO, this should come back and appear under "Permissions" in about:preferences#privacy
This is still annoys users to this day as I ended up here while trying to help a Firefox user with https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1279361
¡Gracias!

It was removed from the visible prefs because it can break sites and rarely does what people actually want. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1365133#c260 .

Well, this user, as far as I can tell from the Spanish fed through a machine translator, was not helped by the option because the site in question uses javascript reloads and not meta redirects. That's bug 220118 / bug 687300.
Really, the issue here is that we should have something that blocks redirects/reloads that happen without user interaction. But if we implemented that, pretty much none of that could use the code currently used for this pref, so I don't see the checkbox coming back.
