Hm. After the Softonic installers run through the gamut of Claro, and IncrediBar, we come to a silent install of an AOL Toolbar. I'm not entirely sure whether it attempts to change homepage or search preferences yet, since it seems I still have a background process "protecting" those preferences from the previous IncrediBar install.

Ah, it also has a wonderful confirmation screen when you try to uninstall it:

Sorry for the bugspam. Changing dependency chain to cut down some.
please talk to me or joanne before blocklisting since we have also a AOL Partner distribution https://hg.mozilla.org/build/partner-repacks/file/cc1347289e4a/partners/aol/ that use the name extension and so blocklisting would affect this too
With the exception of obviously malicious cases, we never blocklist an add-on without contacting the authors, or the appropriate people internally for partner relations. Thanks for the info, though.
This bug has been sitting here for a while. Can you please confirm that AOL Toolbar is still being silently installed?
Closing this for now. Please reopen if there are any problems we know about.
