Please replace the Windows portion of the Mousewheel section with this:
Mousewheel scrolling is known to not work with certain drivers. If you have
problems, try updating your driver and/or disabling any "helper" programs that
your mouse uses. Also, note that mousewheel scrolling will not work if you have
scrolling set to full-page mode in Control Panel.

I to have heard of mozilla/ns6 running slow on 'slower' pentiums with 32 MB.
However, this is a beta software still
I hope you are aware of the Bugzilla keywords that people use on bugs to have
them included in the release notes... relnote, relnote2 and relnote3. There are
lots of bugs, and if you need help in wording I am sure the bug owners can write
some stuff down.

bug 46558- Linux only
Users must have write permission for the target installation directory before
they try to install
bug 49345-Linux only
Users who install the product must run the product at least once to allow for
autoregistration to occur and for the component.reg file to be written to the
installation directory. If a different user than the installer runs the product
first, a core dump will occur.

bugzilla bug 20743
Mac only: "If you experience crashes when you have several windows open, increase
the application's memory size as follows. Select the icon for the application in
the finder, choose "Get Info" on the "File" menu, and in the resulting window
switch to the "Memory" settings using the popup menu. Then enter a larger number
in the "Preferred Size" field; 20000 or larger should fix the crashes."

bug 14003: the -version command line option does nothing.
bug 24665: File > Close and Ctrl/Cmd+W don't work on profiles w/o account setup.
click the window's close widget to close the window.
bug 47139: View Frame Source not yet added to the main View menu; however, it
does show up in the context menu.
bug 49744: -chrome in -help is unclear. it *should* say, "-chrome launches the
specified chrome package".
bug 51087: the order of Preferences categories is inconsistent across platforms.
bug 52154: there is no coloring in the source window.
bug 53440: the fixed-width font size droplist might disappear. here's a
workaround:
1. open Prefs dialog.
2. resize it so that it is much bigger.
3. dismiss the dialog (use the mouse tho' or you'll run into bug 53838).
4. bring up Prefs again --> the fontsize droplist is now displayed;
persists, too, even after resizing the dialog to a smaller size.
bug 49909: Unix/Netscape bindings vs. Windows/Netscape bindings issues.
bug 22963: Colors preferences are essentially unusable since most changes are
currently reflected in the chrome, rather than the content window.
bug 44176: sometimes the download progress dialog doesn't appear while a file is
being saved to disk.
bug 26761: -help doesn't work on win32 (primarily optimized/verification
builds).
bug 32372: there isn't a frontend preference to turn off stylesheets.
bug 33163: unable to have multiple simultaneous [parallel] downloads.
bug 47203: the old Unknown File Type dialog still appears when downloading a
file. this primarily occurs when
1. double-clicking a file to save from an ftp page (all platforms), or,
2. single-clicking most-if-not-all links on an html page that
directly point to a binary (http:// or ftp://) for download.
bug 50420: the original extension of a file you download might be changed. to
workaround this, make a note of the original extension, then change it back.
bug 32108: there is no dialog that asks you to confirm cancellation of file
downloads.
bug 52730: several features of Page Info are missing (w/re: 4xp), namely:
* cannot view info on frames
* cannot view info on xml or ftp pages
* File MIME Type, Source, Local cache file, Content length, Expires,
Charset, Security (already filed as bug 49697)
* not in context menu, no shortcuts either: can only access from the
main menu.

bug 54581: Command+number shortcuts in Tasks menu absent/not working in editor
window.
bug 51018: navigating while a file is downloading will terminate the download.
bug 54059: unable to edit the MIME type field. you'll need to delete and create
a new helper app type with your changes.
bug 50740: hqx files are treated as plain text files. a likely workaround is to
create a helper app type to handle this extension.
bug 53870: existing profile: cannot dismiss Edit Type dialog after changing
radiobutton (Helper App panel in prefs). workaround: click OK anyway (which will
save the change), then click Cancel to actually dismiss the dialog.
bug 50914: type list for the Helper Application is sometimes blank.

bug 46320 (Reduce global files for peaceful gecko installtion) : Profile
registry location is moved.
In order to fix this bug, we moved the profile registry from windows directory
to the Application Data directory on Windows and to the HOME directory on Mac
and Linux.
Here is the pertained newsgroup posting :
As an effort to reduce the global files for gecko installation and make registry
name & location more embedding friendly (bug 46320), the location of profile
registry will be moved to $HOME/<Product Name> directory. Product name is
a name that we can pass to XPCOM init, which defaults to Mozilla if no name is
provided. The name of the registry is also changed on all platforms (see under
platform specific details). The change is transparent and a typical user
shouldn't get affected by this change.
To support this change, profile manager copies the profile information in
mozregistry.dat to registry.dat on the first launch (after the fix to 46320 is
checked in) with this change and a flag is set in new registry (registry.dat)
indicating the transfer. So, from there on, registry.dat will be your new
profile registry and any profiles you add/remove/rename will be reflected in new
registry registry.dat.
Note : If you delete registry.dat and kept mozregistry.dat, you lost the data
transfer flag set in the new registry. On the subsequent launch profile data
will be transferred from mozregistry.dat. If you don't want to this transfer to
happen wipe out/rename mozregistry.dat.
Here are some platform specific details :-
Home directory :
Windows : Initially we started the implementation with %HOME% being the location
for registry.dat file. But, from the feedback we got from various sources, we
found out that HOME variable is not the rightone to depend on. So, we changed
the location to Application Data folder instead. A way to fond out where your
Application Data folder is to start mozilla with -profilemanager commandline
option (open dos console. go to the place where mozilla.exe is located. type
mozilla -profilemanager -console. you will find a statement that says where your
registry is stored. All that path prior to Mozilla folder is your Application
Data folder path).
On Windows, if your Application Data folder is not set, then we default to your
windows directory i.e., the original
mozregistry.dat location (c:\winnt for winNT, c:\windows for Win95, 98 etc.,)
Mac : Documents folder will be the HOME for mac.
Linux : do 'echo $HOME' to find where home is pointing to.
New name of the registry :
Windows : registry.dat
Mac : Application Registry
Linux : appreg
example : say if your Application Data folder on windows is set to say
d:\profiles\foo\Application Data, complete path to your registry file is
d:\profiles\foo\Application Data\Mozilla\registry.dat
PS : For the developers who want to access the registry location, get the
directory services first, and then to get registry directory ask for
NS_XPCOM_APPLICATION_REGISTRY_DIR ( and from javascript "AppRegD")
to get registry file and ask for NS_XPCOM_APPLICATION_REGISTRY_FILE (and from
javascript "AppRegF")

bug 6464 - Windows only (Profile system should honor OS's multi-user
definitions) : Users50, the root folder for all user profile directories has
been moved to Application Data folder.
Newsgroup excerpt :
In the process of fixing bug 6464 (Profile system should honor OS's multi-user
definitions), we are planning on moving Users50 folder (default home for all
user profiles) from the current location (2 levels up from the executable) to
Windows Application Data folder for all the all newly created and migrated
profiles. Your profile directories will still live in the same place they were
in and they can be accessed successfully without any problems as long as you
haven't deleted your registry file.
Application data folder locations (let's say OS is installed on C drive):
Windows 2000 : C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data
Windows NT : C:\Winnt\Profiles\<user name>\Application Data
Windows 95,98
if password protection is disabled : C:\Windows\Application Data
if password protection is enabled : C:\Windows\Profiles\<user
name>\Application Data
The provieded paths need not to be absolutte. Please use regedit and search for
"Application Data' to find out the actual location.
Also, we discovered over the time that some Win95 and 98 machines does not
return proper value for Application Data folder. In all those cases, we used
Windows folder (say something like c:\winnt for windows, c:\windows for 95 , 98
etc)as the fallback.
Note : We will be adding sub folder 'Mozilla' to store all our files.
A dump statement ("New location for profile registry and user profile
directories is -> " ) is added in the profileSelection.js so that the new
location (should be same as the mentioned above for corresponding platforms)
gets printed onto the console when you run the app with 'mozilla -console
-profilemanager'.

I would like to emphasize couple of key points from my last update.
"
In the process of fixing bug 6464 (Profile system should honor OS's multi-user
definitions), we are planning on moving Users50 folder (default home for all
user profiles) from the current location (2 levels up from the executable) to
Windows Application Data folder **** for all newly created and migrated
profiles****.
----> Remember that the Users50 folder is created in the new location only when
you try to cteate a new profile or try to migrate a profile 4.x. <----
**** Your profile directories will still live in the same place *****
----> I meant your existing profile folders (probabaly sitting under say
c:\<folder chosen installtion in the past>\Users50\*) will be in same place.
They don't need to be moved anywhere as the registry knows keeps track of the
location. <----
they were in and they can be accessed successfully without any problems as long
as you haven't deleted your registry file.

"What's New" might mention View/Use Stylesheet -- this beats most everyone else
AFAIK.
The *Note: about cookperm.txt now seems irrelevant, full Preferences UI exists
and works for this, and I'm using it.
