Does anybody else seen this:
Go to your main folder in thunderbird, on my computer it's called "Lokale Ordner". In english this is called "local folders".
In the right corner of statusbar, I see "Unread -1 Total -1"
Is this a bug? Or do these two -1 have any sense?
using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060326 Thunderbird/2.0a1 ID:2006032608
Reproducible: Always

> In the right corner of statusbar, I see "Unread -1 Total -1"
I can reproduce for Thunderbird version 3 alpha 1 (20060425) (nightly).
It happens everytime I click on an account icon.
Definitely a dupe of bug 84888
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060308 Thunderbird/1.5.0.2
Build ID: 2006030803
Well, I have same bug but not for Trash folder only - tb shows "Unread -1 Total -1" if I select account (not the folder in account, but account - GMail, for example).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select any folder in account (for example, GMail-> Inbox). Statusbar shows, for example, "Unread 0 Total 20".
2. Select any message.
3. Again select account (GMail). That's it, statusbar shows "Unread -1 Total -1".
But if I go back to folder, deselect message and select account again, statusbar shows Inbox's info ("Unread 0 Total 20").

If someone fixes that, you should display the amount of all messages in all subfolders.
At the moment, I don't know how much messages I have in my thunderbird at all. There are no statistics in thunderbird. (Take a look at Outlook Express which has something like that)
So displaying the whole amount of message in that corner whould be a nice small feature for me - and perhaps for other people too.

If there's an earlier report of this bug, I haven't found it yet, altho I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned in the newsgroups for months. It is a regression: TB 1.0 does not exhibit this symptom, but 1.5 does. If anyone is aware of a non-Windows build exhibiting this symptom, say so (I imagine this is not a Windows-specific problem).
Thanks, Denis, for the steps-to-reproduce in comment 3. I'd noticed the
symptom many times when an account was selected, but never figured out the necessary step of 'selecting a message'.
Note that if a message is *not* selected, selecting an account leaves the count display untouched. For instance, you can select a POP account's Inbox, then select the top node at Local Folders and still see the POP account's numbers.
Rather than displaying the total message counts for all the folders and subfolders, maybe it would be better to clear the count fields entirely when an account is selected. For newsgroups and IMAP accounts, getting those totals without spending time on a new message fetch would often be inaccurate.
The original report here was for selecting "Local Folders" -- which is shown in the tree as an "account" -- so, not a dupe of 84888, which was for selecting
the Trash folder (and apparently only for an IMAP account).

TB 1.5.0.8:
1. Select some _folder_ in News account - you see Unread/Total counters.
2. Click on POP _account_ - counters (from news group) remain untouched.
Other way to get wrong values:
1. Click on some _folder_ in POP account - valid Unread/Total counters shown.
2. Click on POP _account_ (tree root) itself - Unread/Total shown as -1/-1.

...but this somewhat random or depends on installed theme. For example, in other circumstances, instead of unrefreshed fileds, TB may show again -1/-1.
