when I go to Add/Remove programs, I can remove other programs, but when I try to uninstall Thunderbird (I want to re-install it after I clean up my Eudora first) it simply freezes my Add/Remove box and nothing more can be done, but the computer still operates other activities. What to do? I have tried this several times over several days, with the same results.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Have you tried running the uninstall.exe directly (found somewhere in the thunderbird installation folder)?

Make sure all other applications are closed, and if that still don't work, try uninstalling while in windows safe mode.
Thanks for your help. I had already tried to uninstall from the program installation folder, also unsuccessfully. Today a computer specialist friend traveled down to help out with this and some other problems. He was also perplexed by the bug. In the end he knew another way around my problem, and we're okay now WITHOUT uninstalling.

You may still want to check out the problem for us ordinary folks.

I have this same problem. And I tried to uninstall the program from Add / Remove programs, Directly from the Thunderbird folder, and using the application CCleaner. I just want to uninstall it because with my new e-mail I don't use it. Any help would be great. Thanks.

> Reinstalling then uninstalling does not work...

This may be classified by a dupe - but by all means this issue is not resolved - there still is not solution - I am working with Mozilla directly to get this resolved - nothing that anyone has suggested has worked.
Mine was also classified as a dupe, but I have heard nothing. I just want it off my computer. If you find anything, would you let me know?
*This* bug is not resolved, UNCONFIRMED means nobody knows how to reproduce... Your bugs were marked as duplicates to this one just to focus the effort of figuring out what's happening, since you all (likely) have the same issue.

So are people using some special software that might be causing this? Did someone try uninstalling while in windows safe mode? You have to choose it at boot time, press F5 (or is that F2/F8, it may vary) some times after power on.

Howard: what did your computer specialist friend do?

> This may be classified by a dupe
Joel: yes. So far, bug 335458, bug 337937, bug
365954, bug 373980 have/share the same description, same steps to reproduce, same Thunderbird 1.5.0.x version, same external symptoms (hang, non-responsive uninstall.exe execution).

> Howard: what did your computer specialist friend do?

Sorry, I got confused. So, your computer specialist friend did not uninstall TB but rather fixed your initial, original problem.

------

There is also bug 346651 which could legitimately be resolved as a duplicate.
I just got it to uninstall. Try using the uninstall from this directory

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\uninstall\uninstall.exe

This removed it from my computer.
Reeves, people in bug 335458#c10 and bug 373980#c2 have tried that unsuccessfully.
