I install mozilla-win32-installer-sea.exe and select browser only,
and set Quick launch. Mozilla icon in Windows taskbar right-click,
It show [Messenger] and [Addressbook] item.
Taskbar menu should not appear [Messenger] and [Addressbook] when
browser only installed.
I tried mozilla build ID is 2001101003.

take a look at your Tasks menu, is messenger and address book installed? Can you
run them? I can, they are installed on my browser-only install. invalid/wontfix?

I have done a Navigator only install and see only Navigator and Composer on the
context menu. Is this JA system only?
I think there is a bug for addressbook showing on Tasks menu- but Messenger did
not show up there- if it is doing that today, it is a regression
cuz84d- what build are you seeing this on?

The reporter said about windows taskbar, not Mozilla's Tasks menu.
See the screenshot(id=53098).

I used term context menu (right click on windows systray icon)- referring to
same menu. Sorry for confusion
using nightly build - 2001101203
only Navigator and Composer show up on taskbar on a Windows 2000 machine
However Windows NT- same build does show the problem. :(
The mail/news items in that menu are controlled by the presence of a mail/news
properties file that is theoretically part of the mail/news component and not
installed otherwise. I can't see any way that this should be affected by the
particular Win32 OS one is using.
Is it possible that there's another installation of Mozilla/NS6.x on the machine
where it fails that inadvertantly places this properties file on you machine so
it *looks* like mail/news is installed?
For example, if you search your installation disk for the file
"mailTurboMenu.properties," do you find it anywhere?

This file contained bin/chrome/en-US.jar (and ja-JP.jar that install
Japanese Language pack) when browser only installed.
xul,js files separated by component, but locale files (.dtd, .properties)
is unified each components.

We need some other means to distinguish mail/news being installed.
Adding Blake to cc: list and setting target milestone.

renominate nsbeta1.
+cc paw, b/c I turned on this feature because he asked for more of us to look at
this feature...
This happeneed to me, and I found it very confusing (I thought the installer was
broken until I realized the bogus menu items all went to browser.)
For a feature of this nature, I think we need to have strict control over what
we show to users, and make sure they work correctly.

I'm seeing this with 1.0RC2 on a fresh install of Windows2000, having only
chosen Navigator, PSM and QFA

Using winXP, i've seen this bug since at least 1.0RC1. No matter what one
installs, the quicklaunch icon (show when the mozilla's quickstart is on) shows
four options, Navigator, Mail/News, Composer, and addressbook.
