It's not easy for a user to recognize the date of all day events in the today pane - see screenshoot.

Agreed, the visualization of all day events in the today pane could be much better. We should fix that for .9.

In my opinion all-day events should be displayed more compact similar to non-all-day events. Instead of date and time they should display just the date. Or the date + the text 'all day' similar to the unifinder.

To put everyone's ideas into an example, how about something like this: - Soon --------------- Wednesday * Appointment 1 * Appointment 2 Friday * Allday 1 * Allday 2 * Appointment 1 * Appointment 2 Saturday * Allday 1 Notes: - The * is the calendar icon. - The whitespace before Friday and Saturday could be 50% of the height of a normal row or something. - I think it would be easier to read the Soon section if the background wasn't highlighted for all-day events in the Soon section. - The tooltip could show the time, or the time could be on the same row as the event title, for example: Wednesday * Appointment 1 (1400-1500) * Appointment 2 (1600-1700)

To distinguish between all-day events and events with times, maybe one type could be italicized or have a special calendar icon or have a second icon.

(In reply to bug #409096 comment #0) > In bug 389854 Christian made the following suggestions to improve the new > agenda-pane: > - Allow customization of the Agenda Pane > - Allow multi selection of events > - Improve Context Menu > - Improve UI of All Day Events Is this a duplicate? See also bug #409096 comment #13.

I think the Agenda should not reuse the Month View all-day event box. Instead it should just add the entries to the Agenda list like done for non-all-day events. This would also obsolete Bug 409093 and fix Bug 416604.

It might solve those bugs but I would miss having decorated all-day events in the agenda for some categories such as holidays. I wish there was a way to let users control the decoration of all-day events in the agenda and in the views based on category. Actually I can currently do this with an ugly css hack for month view and I hope it will be possible for users to decide in the agenda too.

From an user experience standpoint this is an important bug. It would be great to have this in .9

I would like to see 'soon' replaced with all the day names for the upcoming week. These should be hidden for days with no events. e.g. if today is Thursday: -Today Meeting 9:00-11:00 -Tomorrow Lunch customer 13:00-15:00 -Saturday Hot date 19:00 -Monday More Meetings

'Soon' could also be with weekdays, date and time, instead of the year, which is unnecesseray. E.g. Soon - Monday 2th June Meeting 13:00 New meeting 17:00 - Wednesday 4th June Lunch 12:00 - Saturday 7th June Willy's birthday [from whole-day event] - Sunday 8th June Easter Day [from whole-day event]

All day events also produces JS errors on dragging events to convert to message or task. Since I assume, an 'improvement' would include the removal of 'calendar-month-day-box-item' inside the agenda-pane, it would automatically solve this issue - otherwise a spin-off should be filed...

All day event 0.8 versus 0.9 Professional users point of view. All my customers stay in 0.8 version, as they can adjust the size of the "all days events" panel. This is no more available in 0.9 and 1.0pre. it a regression in term of usability. Could it be feasible to have the panel size in user's choice and not what the programmers think it should. We have here 20 agendas shown in the same time, many of same have all days event. and all of this are now displayed in a 120pixel height panel !

I just got surprised 2 times: 1. Others also find it annoying that all-day-events are not displayed with a date in the pane for the main TB window (good surprise) 2. It is still not solved though the first request is more than 2 years old!!!! (f... bad surprise!) Developers, this is really a major bug! Please, why isn´t anything done about it?

Lets not mix issues here, this bug is specifically about changing the UI looks of allday events in the today pane. For other issues regarding the today pane soon section, see bug 455542 and bug 573419. I'm sorry this has not been solved, but what we really need is a decent UI proposal, reviewed by someone from the ui-review team and time to fix the development side of this bug. I understand it is annoying that the date is not displayed, especially in the soon section, but since the workaround is easy (tooltip), we have prioritized other bugs.

It is still not solved though the first request is more than 2 years old!!!! Actually the problem you mentioned (the main problem of this bug i.e. the lack of the date for the all-day events in "soon" section of the agenda) has been fixed with bug 572076 and bugs 457536, 566599 as well. What it need is a different look for the UI as mentioned in comment 20.
