As far as I know, there's no bug filed about this, but it's been discussed a bunch of times; I couldn't find any specific mock ups and didn't really look for any specific past discussions.

We'd like to replace the join chat dialog with the ability to have a "blank" new conversation tab that would let you:
1. Join chats
2. IM people by typing in names

The idea was to have an "awesomebar" like input box that would match previous channels and people across all accounts, but also let you type in whatever you want.

Possibly also a way to browse the existing MUCs/channels on each server.

I think it should also include existing conversations in the list (like Firefox does with open tabs), I've got especially conversations on hold in mind where it could come in handy.

This feature is stable to the level of being MVP complete, so I'm resolving this bug.
