Would the vista design apply only for Vista; or XP and Vista given that Vista won't take much market for like 2 years maybe !
What currently are the plans for the Vista design

This tracking bug is agnostic to the means of making it look better on Vista. (Though personally, I think it'd be better to have FF look more like Luna when it's running on XP and more like Vista when it's running on Vista, rather than having something in-between on both.)
We should all focus on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243078 as native theme rendering will resolve many issues. Once James is able to complete this work we can take a look at how FF really looks on Vista!

Trying to emulate the menu appearance is a loss. I have a patch for actual native menu rendering in bug 355789; removing bug 243078 as a dependency.

And have FF look more like Windows Classic if it is running on XP under Windows Classic style.
I personally would like it to have the see-thru Vista Aero look, which WMP 11 and IE 7 have, but I doubt it is possible to make. Probably Microsoft made it so only Microsoft products can look like that.
Should there be a seperate nightly Windows Vista build? I personally think so. To avoid conflicts with both OS's. Or would this affect the whole trunk?

Here's two different indepth examples of how to make a UI utilizing the new Areo Glass Theme...

Not too sure if Delphi or C++ languages are relevant, but the information is helpful none-the-less.

How "quaint".....
Would the toolbar be transparent like how is for IE7?

(Looks *so* ugly.)
Someone made a theme "Firefox Default for Vista" https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4484 which turns the toolbars light gray. That makes it look somewhat better, but I rather like a bit warmer color like beige, dark gray or black. Vista is already so glassy, slick and cold. Nice for explorer windows and dialogs but not for a browser.

I think Firefox should at least offer some links on the start page to third party themes for Vista users.

What if Aero is disabled on Vista due to other programs running that are incompatible with the scheme? Sounds to me like this is a request for "skins" options or add-ons for Firefox.
Can this be closed out? I think we've pretty much decided how things are going to look for Fx3.
Personally, I think it's appearance should integrate even more (as Internet Explorer does with the location bar in the aero Glass portion of the top of the window). But I suppose that would be rather difficult to achieve. Some of the third party themes come close, but they still aren't there.

If Aero is disabled then Firefox could still blend in with the Window as IE does. Either way would look better.

Looks like this bug was mainly meant to track platform level changes on Vista, theme level changes are being covered over in bug 420232
Isn't bug 544820 kinda superseding this bug?
yes, currently all work is being handled from bug 544820
