Thunderbird spinoff from bug 341986.

Currently, when I run debug builds (on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5), there are lots of output. This bug will track bugs that cause console noise on startup or shutdown with such debug builds (so far, Mac-only).

Jesse goes, "All this console noise makes it hard to notice regressions.  In addition, console noise on shutdown makes it hard to notice when a page triggers certain kinds of leaks or other shutdown bugs."

The log tracks the output spewed out the third time started after a new profile is created, then quit.

i.e. first start -> automatic fresh profile creation -> quit Account Wizard via Cancel, Exit -> quit -> start 2nd time -> quit Account Wizard via Cancel, Exit -> quit -> start 3rd time -> *startup output* -> quit Account Wizard via Cancel, Exit -> *quitting of Account Wizard output* -> quit -> *shutdown output*.

Ignore the lines "### XPCOM_MEM_LEAK_LOG defined -- logging leaks to stderr
" near the top of the log and "BloatView: ALL (cumulative) LEAK STATISTICS" block of output near the bottom.

I had enabled "export XPCOM_MEM_LEAK_LOG=2" which generates the above output, for archival purposes.

All other lines will still show up in a debug build that is started up via the command-line.

On my Linux box, I also get large numbers of assertions from bug 366791 (and related ones, they come in pairs or groups of three).

Looks like we dropped a webshell but leak two more strings, unless platform differences are cropping up. We also really need to get that scrollbar problem fixed...

Please can we keep mentioning leaks to a separate bug(s), e.g. bug 426963. This bug is about startup/shutdown console noise, leaks are a totally different issue.

I don't know where the account manager window opening or where the close button falls in that chain of output, but one can make educated guesses.

Is this only for the console or also the Error console? Or do messages in a debug build appear in both so it is equivalent?

Likely only from a console in a debug build. Such messages don't appear in optimized builds.
