Iteration 5: http://people.mozilla.com/~faaborg/files/granParadisoUI/places_OrganizerWindowLayout_i5.png Text from the mockup: --- Switched from the green toolbar to a black toolbar for three reasons: 1) Reduce confusion that this is not a view of the file system 2) Consistent with other applications designed for managing collections of media objects (if you buy that a bookmark is a type of media object) 3) Looks really freaking cool. --- Changes from i3: -kill reload (context menu only) -history and tags get a flat list drill down (not shown in this mockup) -add forward and back buttons -double click on tag name navigates on tag -kill save/cancel in preview pane, it is instant apply -rename to Places Organizer -History/Downloads/Tags/Bookmark Toolbar/Bookmark Menu/All Bookmarks, the items expand -move info to far right, rename properties -kill access to classic menu -integrate removed menu items in (copy, move, view menu) --- Changes from i4: -Properties pane moved from the right to the bottom --- Import and backup menu contains the new "revert to backup" option that mconnor wants. --- Properties button hides and displays the info pane on the right side of the window --- The progressive disclosure control in the properties pane adds these controls, causing a scroll bar to appear: --- Thumbnail view is not in scope for M8, but really-really want --- Are "show columns" and "sort" for a11y? If not, we should remove them because the functionality is redundant.
Note for i6: change contextual addons icon in the view menu to a puzzle piece
This looks interesting! Keep us posted.
This was a tracking bug for Firefox 3 development, resolving.
Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
