User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20030929 Firebird/0.7+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20030929 Firebird/0.7+ I have absolutely no use for the Bookmarks Toolbar, yet I can't get rid of the associated "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder". I can rename it, move it into another folder, and change the description, but for some stupid reason or another I can't delete it. Even if I delete it by editting my bookmarks.html file the damned thing still shows up next time I use my bookmarks. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Method one: 1. Start Bookmarks Manager 2. Select the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder 3. Attempt to delete the useless thing Method Two: 1.) Close FireBird 2.) Open Bookmarks.html with your favourite text editor 3.) Delete the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder. 4.) Save the file. Actual Results: Method one: Using the "delete" key on the keyboard has no effect. The "Delete" button on the Bookmarks Manager toolbar is disabled and can't be used. Method two: No sign of the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder exists in Bookmarks.HTML, yet the stupied thing is still there next time you start FireBird and use your bookmarks. Expected Results: Deleted the folder.
Generally, swearing in bug reports is a good way to get a bug WONTFIXed... This is by design, and won't be changed, at least until the "Set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder" bug is fixed (bug 205739), since if you can't replace it, deleting it forces you to create a new profile. Confirming for now, depends on 205739

How about leaving the intentional Bookmarks Manager bug in so the this folder can't be casually or accidentally deleted, but at least allow people who seriously want to get rid of it to do so by editting bookmarks.html ? BTW, if there is no reference to this folder in my bookmarks.html, then where on earth is this stored ? I was hoping I might be able to work around this by deleting something from a file like localstore.rdf, but there doesn't seem to be anything there. Deleting XUL.mfl didn't help either. I even renamed that folder "qwertyuiop" to make it easier to search for in other files in my profile - yet not a single file in my profile contains that string.
WON'TFIX. The rationale behind making the bookmarks toolbar folder undeletable is that the number of bugs reported by people who accidently removed it and that couln't have it back was exceeding the number of report of people that want to remove it completely (to my knowledge, you're the first one). As a workaround, rename your BTF, and treat it as a normal folder.

There are two workarounds 1. As noted in comment 3 Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks Select the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder Right click and choose properties Rename it to something 'useful' 2. if you have at least one other folder. Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks In the Bookmark Manager Window select some other folder in the right pane Edit -> Set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder You should be able to delete the folder named Bookmarks Toolbar Folder now
