Users of MacOS 8.5 to 8.6.1 must upgrade from MRJ 2.0 to MRJ 2.1 (2.2
recommended?) in order to run Java applets with Netscape6.
see bug 13848

More for bug 13848
Here are the default installed MRJ versions for recent Mac OS releases.
8.0 = MRJ 1.5 (Java 1.0.2)
8.5 = MRJ 2.0 (Java 1.1.3)
8.51= MRJ 2.0.X
8.6 = MRJ 2.1.X
9 = MRJ 2.1.4 (Java 1.1.7)
9 + auto-update = MRJ 2.2 (Java 1.1.8.)
Mac OS 9 includes software auto update, so most Macs that are
attached to the internet will have automatically been upgraded to the above
So *if* you require MRJ 2.1 to run, then yes, 2.1 required, 2.2 recommended is
a good thing to have in the release notes...

Based on what was just added to bug #13848, we should actually say:
Users of MacOS 8.5 to 8.6.1 must upgrade to MRJ 2.2 (built-in MacOS9) in order to
run Java applets with Netscape6.

Should we just close this bug and transfer the contents to
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26315
That seems far more active and complete... (and it'll kill a PDT+ bug :-)

(about relnote bug 28459, and related bugs like 19221, 24663) modal windows will
block user input on other windows (some or all, depending on the platform) and
can, in some exceptional circumstances, not be the topmost window. This means
that if the topmost window unexpectedly completely stops responding to the mouse
and keyboard, there's probably a modal dialog hiding somewhere and stealing
input. You should be able to bring it to the front and then dismiss it to
recover. (This situation is rare, and only happens if you have, for instance,
multiple browser windows open and simultaneously loading, or one with annoying
javascript that opens windows in the background.)

bug 29882: holding down the Up or Down arrow keys to navigate through the
Prefrences might crash the browser. workaround: instead of holding 'em down,
click the keys more slowly.
bug 32554: you can download only one file at a time (serially). unable to do
multiple (parallel) downloads.
bug 28508: in Linux and Windows, Select All does not work in context menus.
instead, use Edit > Select All from the main menu.
bug 31233: editing keyboard shortcuts (eg, Alt/Command/Ctrl+X to cut, and so
forth) don't work in some dialogs: Find on Page, Profile Wizard...
bug 10958: Application Helpers has not yet been implemented for beta1.
bug 2674, bug 22529, bug 29348, and bug 20298: some keyboard navigation and
shortcuts are still not fully implemented. (read these bugs and their
attachments for further details.) also, shift-modified shortcuts aren't
implemented yet.
bug 28773: Linux and Windows: selecting Copy from context menus doesn't dismiss
the context menu. workaround: just click somewhere outside the menu.
bug 30813: in Font Preferences you won't be able to select a fontsize smaller
than 12pt.
bug 26508: Font Preferences: selecting fonts from the scrolling lists might not
work.
bug 31983: Advanced > Cache preference: Choose Folder button won't bring up
dialog.
bug 31973: the category tree in Preferences might not redraw properly. scrolling
(using the grippy), resizing the dialog, going to another virtual desktop
(Linux) would likely work around this problem.

from bug #30864
(windows only) the key sequence Ctrl+Tab will not cycle the active window
among the currently open Netscape 6 windows. Workaround is to use Alt-Tab
to cycle among all application windows that are currently open, or to select
the desired Netscape 6 window from the icons in the Windows taskbar.

Profile Migration
Profile migration currently copies a Netscape Communicator 4.5 or greater
profile into the Users50 directory. It does not alter the current 4.5 or
greater profile and Netscape 4.5+ can still be used. No changes made in
Netscape 6 will be seen in Netscape 4.5+. They are two distinct profiles.
If you have only 1 4.5+ Netscape Communicator profile, it will be
automatically migrated for your use. If you have more than one such profile, you
will be asked to select one for migration.
----------------------------------------
also in release notes sent out last week, under setting profiles it says
it is store in /mozilladir/users50/profilename
mozilladir should be installdir <users choice> or <defaultnetscapedir>
