Put your additions to the Beta 1 Release Notes here.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Putting on beta1 keyword and PDT+ list.
Keywords: beta1
Whiteboard: [PDT+]
Whiteboard: [PDT+] → [PDT+] Must be completed after beta branch
Users of MacOS 8.5 to 8.6.1 must upgrade from MRJ 2.0 to MRJ 2.1 (2.2 recommended?) in order to run Java applets with Netscape6. see bug 13848
More for bug 13848 Here are the default installed MRJ versions for recent Mac OS releases. 8.0 = MRJ 1.5 (Java 1.0.2) 8.5 = MRJ 2.0 (Java 1.1.3) 8.51= MRJ 2.0.X 8.6 = MRJ 2.1.X 9 = MRJ 2.1.4 (Java 1.1.7) 9 + auto-update = MRJ 2.2 (Java 1.1.8.) Mac OS 9 includes software auto update, so most Macs that are attached to the internet will have automatically been upgraded to the above So *if* you require MRJ 2.1 to run, then yes, 2.1 required, 2.2 recommended is a good thing to have in the release notes...
Based on what was just added to bug #13848, we should actually say: Users of MacOS 8.5 to 8.6.1 must upgrade to MRJ 2.2 (built-in MacOS9) in order to run Java applets with Netscape6.
Should we just close this bug and transfer the contents to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26315 That seems far more active and complete... (and it'll kill a PDT+ bug :-)
ProfileManager: bug 30094 When a user selects a custom folder for profile storage, the path name is difficult to see, only the top portion of characters are visible.
updating QA Contact.

Bug 32034: Searches using the Search panel in MySidebar *from a mail window* will not work. Use the search panel from MySidebar in a browser window instead.
(about relnote bug 28459, and related bugs like 19221, 24663) modal windows will block user input on other windows (some or all, depending on the platform) and can, in some exceptional circumstances, not be the topmost window. This means that if the topmost window unexpectedly completely stops responding to the mouse and keyboard, there's probably a modal dialog hiding somewhere and stealing input. You should be able to bring it to the front and then dismiss it to recover. (This situation is rare, and only happens if you have, for instance, multiple browser windows open and simultaneously loading, or one with annoying javascript that opens windows in the background.)
bug 29882: holding down the Up or Down arrow keys to navigate through the Prefrences might crash the browser. workaround: instead of holding 'em down, click the keys more slowly. bug 32554: you can download only one file at a time (serially). unable to do multiple (parallel) downloads. bug 28508: in Linux and Windows, Select All does not work in context menus. instead, use Edit > Select All from the main menu. bug 31233: editing keyboard shortcuts (eg, Alt/Command/Ctrl+X to cut, and so forth) don't work in some dialogs: Find on Page, Profile Wizard... bug 10958: Application Helpers has not yet been implemented for beta1. bug 2674, bug 22529, bug 29348, and bug 20298: some keyboard navigation and shortcuts are still not fully implemented. (read these bugs and their attachments for further details.) also, shift-modified shortcuts aren't implemented yet. bug 28773: Linux and Windows: selecting Copy from context menus doesn't dismiss the context menu. workaround: just click somewhere outside the menu. bug 30813: in Font Preferences you won't be able to select a fontsize smaller than 12pt. bug 26508: Font Preferences: selecting fonts from the scrolling lists might not work. bug 31983: Advanced > Cache preference: Choose Folder button won't bring up dialog. bug 31973: the category tree in Preferences might not redraw properly. scrolling (using the grippy), resizing the dialog, going to another virtual desktop (Linux) would likely work around this problem.
from bug #30864 (windows only) the key sequence Ctrl+Tab will not cycle the active window among the currently open Netscape 6 windows. Workaround is to use Alt-Tab to cycle among all application windows that are currently open, or to select the desired Netscape 6 window from the icons in the Windows taskbar.
From bug #30497: Some HTML Form Controls, and XPToolkit widgets (e.g., scrollbar, input, button) will respond fully or partially to a context-click (e.g., right-click (for a right-handed mouse configuration).
bug 6085: middle-mouse click should load URL in new window --this feature isn't implemented in beta1, but will be in the next milestone.
bug 18656 : pdf files don't launch unless dll is manually added to plugins folder. Workaround: add the 'nppdf32.dll' file to the plugins folder. bug 12037 : Color document icons are printed as black/white or not at all. No workaround available. bug 32552: Page with javascript used to detect plugin does not load plugin. No workaround available. bug 31350: Trying to print big pages cause browser hang up. No workaround available. bug 24405 : Text on right side gets cut off while printing. Workaround: manually change the right margin to .50 inches. bug 24847 : Printing in Landscape mode does not work.No workaround available. bug 24952: Long Table Rows (ie. height) don't cross page breaks and text gets deleted while printing. No workaround available. bug 27478: Cannot print plugins on a webpage. No workaround available.
bug 31350: Trying to print big pages cause browser hang up and page does not print. No workaround available.
bug 7862: Windows: after exiting Preferences, focus switches to another application, instead of mozilla.
32795 All Platforms DOM1 HTMLTextAreaElement .value attribute The .value attribute retains the old value in a textarea element after the value has been changed instead of accepting the new value. 32799 All Platforms DOM1 HTMLTextAreaElement .defaultValue attribute .defaultValue should hold the initial value of the textarea, but it is not being stored there.
Bug 29212 All platforms: Pasting a bookmark folder into itself will cause a crash. You will then crash on startup everytime do to out of memory errors. You must remove the bookmarks.html file to recover.
Bug 8002 (bug 28626, bug 26082) Linux only: Background windows will not come to the foreground when summoned. Using the taskbar icons, the 'Go To Window' popup on the taskbar, or the 'Tasks' menu will not bring background windows to the front. Instead, click on the window to bring it to the front and give it focus.
bug 7404: left and right arrow keys won't scroll horizontally (won't work at all). workaround options: * click the left/right arrow widgets * use the horizontal grippy in the scrollbar * click in the grey area in the scrollbar

bug 32120: Locationbox textfield becomes inaccessible after doing some random browsing. workaround: Close and reopen the Navigation Toolbar to be able to type again.
bug# 12559: Javascript properties like port, protocol, search, hash, host, hostname, pathname on LINK and AREA element return undefined value. bug# 13652: Javascript methods focus(), blur(), click() and select() methods don't work with GFX. Under Known Issues: Bookmarks and History: the following line appears: Drag and drop is not yet implemented, but you can use cut, copy, and paste to manipulate your bookmarks. I'm pleased to say that is no longer the case. You can replace that with: Bookmarks can be manipulated via Drag&Drop within the Manage Bookmarks window or within MySidebar only.
XML bugs: bug 15086: 'Simple link' based on the XLink spec not yet implemented. bug 32527: XML parsing error messages not displayed.

CSS1: bug 23216: 'a:visited' pseudo-class does not always work.
Profile Migration Profile migration currently copies a Netscape Communicator 4.5 or greater profile into the Users50 directory. It does not alter the current 4.5 or greater profile and Netscape 4.5+ can still be used. No changes made in Netscape 6 will be seen in Netscape 4.5+. They are two distinct profiles. If you have only 1 4.5+ Netscape Communicator profile, it will be automatically migrated for your use. If you have more than one such profile, you will be asked to select one for migration. ---------------------------------------- also in release notes sent out last week, under setting profiles it says it is store in /mozilladir/users50/profilename mozilladir should be installdir <users choice> or <defaultnetscapedir>
bug 24679, You may have problems logging on to your Etrade account. If you get an error logging in, keep trying, you will eventually log in successfully.

After reviewing or customizing an individual panel in My Sidebar, simply close the window with the X button. Panels may not load the first time you open My Sidebar. To reload a panel, click on a different panel then click back on the first one. bug 27892
Another item for navigator only install: Spell Check will not be installed. To install Spell Check, choose custom install and select Spell Check.
