bug 121084 - cache: Images requested twice -> "The image cannot be displayed, because it contains errors." message [when "Compare the page in cache ..." set to "every time I view the page"] - This should definitely be fixed (IMHO) before a "2.0", why not now? Often duped and voted 50 times up to now.
Nominating bug 120568 - Find/Change should be available for text fields in Navigator This bug blocks bug 76374 - No [Find] or [Replace] in HTML Source editor The latter one is open for 1 1/2 years now and makes html editing horrible.
nominating: bug 51683 Unable to have 2 differently named bookmarks for the same url. bug 116951 save dialog does not give the user choice of viewing filetypes... bug 177166 Hard to get focus back to location bar after ... load URL in new tab and these need more attention (if "Make Mozilla 1.4a not suck" were opened...): bug 18764 RFE: Full rfc2557 MHTML multipart/related support in BROWSER bug 40873 RFE: Save as rfc 2557 MHTML; complete webpage in one file bug 64286 .zip, .tgz, .tar, or .jar archive off/on-line browsing
There are three bugs that currently provide a major obstacle to any companies wanting to upgrade from Netscape 4 to Mozilla/Netscape 7. These have been present for a long time, but are just being ignored. My company has 800 users using Netscape 4 and we really need to upgrade them. However, we will not be able to do this until these bugs are fixed. I'm sure we are not alone! The bugs are as follows: Bug 55309 - Mozilla currently migrates a profile and puts it in a place of its own choosing. On Windows systems without roaming OS profiles, this is generally the c drive. If, for backup purposes, a company requires profiles to be stored on a network drive, they are stuck. Manually moving the new profiles to a different location is not an option when you have to do hundreds of installs! Leaving profiles on the c drive is also not an option. Bug 142196 - If POP is used to access email, and downloaded emails are stored on a network drive, Mozilla is completely unuseable as a mail program. Emails have to be stored on network drives for backup purposes, so this completely bars the upgrade from the Netscape 4 mail program. Bug 92295 - When migrating profiles from Netscape 4, Mozilla makes a copy of all the mail stored in the old profile. If a company needs to migrate all its users, this could result in gigabytes of extra storage being required. Manually deleting the old mail is not an option as it makes the install process too unwieldy. I cannot over-stress the seriousness of these bugs. They should take priority over all other new features that are being added to new releases. If companies can't use Mozilla/Netscape, that excludes a potentially huge user base. Netscape 4 is rapidly becoming far too dated for serious use. Unless Mozilla becomes a contender soon, people might have to start considering Internet Explorer or others. Our company certainly doesn't want to do this, but at the moment we have no choice.
I'd like to nominate the following: Bug 70213 - XP_UNIX DNS lookups are serialized Bug 19442 - Regular expressions in mail and news filters
The bookmark functionality is really broken and it would be nice to have it working: Bug 176715 [ fails to import internet explorer bookmarks ] Bug 139396 [ Sorting of Bookmarks doesn't work at all ] Bug 21263 [ Imported Favorites from IE not sorted ] Bug 139136 [ Set as Personal Toolbar Folder does nothing ] Bug 127479 [ Drag n drop add to bookmark when no other bookmarks present is broken ] Bug 174197 [ font error when link bookmarked ]
bug 40046 "First" and "Last" not auto filled when adding to addressbook This bug has been sitting around for several years, and has patches ready to go, but unfortunately the best is the enemy of the good.
In order to not suck, what 1.3a really needs is to suck. Err... what I mean is, it's time to land as many as possible of the pending high-risk things now, so that the 1.4 alpha timeframe can have somewhat less risk (not none, just less), clean up better in beta, and head toward stability for 1.4 or so. So, bugfixes can wait, but features should land now, especially if they're risky. Yes?
re-nominating selected nominations from past "make version-x not suck" bugs from moz1.0rc3, bug 143200: bug 142590 Add "Do Not Edit" warning to prefs.js bug 30579 "Scrollbar corner" should be skinnable (currently always white) bug 123712 URL drop down should not show arrows for scroll when only one match bug 30431 Intellimouse Explorer Backwards and Forwards button support bug 92380 Context menu in Personal Toolbar incorrect when Sidebar items selected bug 32157 Title tips (tooltips) for cropped text bug 91662 Long strings in mail or news header cause scroll bars and attachment window to disappear, making message unreadable bug 96877 Address book: Lists lose addresses from moz1.1a, bug 148522: bug 16489 Password Protection of Profiles bug 60299 Profile manager can't be started from mozilla bug 70030 Cannot stop animation with stop button or escape key bug 133503 [REPRO]Ctrl+F4 active during print preview bug 136016 'Set as wallpaper' should be disabled for broken image bug 35866 Windows: Need to show progress/status strings in splash screen bug 2920 Delete attachment from msg in folder bug 17048 Roaming access - bookmarks/cookies/history/etc in central repository bug 47475 Need "Show Image" item on context menu bug 145196 Blank lines before tags in head (meta, link, etc...) created after editing source bug 41924 Change how layout handles broken images (alt text) bug 143881 No obvious way to prefill form
I think the Feature 60861 should be in 1.3. It is very important to have it to get more IE users. Many people need this feature when they want to change the browser. The most people don't look at a browser very long to see the better features. They see that this is not in Mozilla and they think that Mozilla is bad. So..... we should build it... http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60861
Bug 134492 Print list of attachments / List of attached files in printed E-Mails (Business users can't live without this feature) Bug 145019 No scroll bar on Attachmets window and the first attachment disappear
Nominating bug 135363 - location bar search fails after accidentally hitting enter (which tries to use search terms as url) 28 votes, on the most frequently dup'ed list (48 dups), has a patch needing review, also an nsbeta+ bug.
Nominating : - bug 66822 = implement rot-13 - bug 166442 = make popup window blocking UI less hidden - bug 181598 = Problem handling "<url:"
I nominate: bug 43923 This one was originally intended for 1.2b but didn't seem to get in; it's got patches available already, has quite a few votes for it, and is something that makes it hard to use Mozilla for mail in MANY corporate environments. bug 175939 / bug 181293 While these two aren't officially marked as duplicates, I think there's a pretty good chance that they are different manifestations of the same underlying problem. They have quite a few duplicates (at least one of which was originally marked as a blocker for 1.2) and are extremely annoying to the user. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the 175939 behavior is enough to discourage people from using Mozilla as when it starts acting up the only solution often seems to be to restart Mozilla and hope for better luck the next time. I can't even imagine how awful it would be combined with a slow modem type connection... bug 20417 This one's been around for quite awhile and has acquired quite a few votes. While no patch seems yet to be available, progress is clearly being made on it, and I'd love to see it make its way into 1.3a...
nominating bug 143810 for 1.3a but more likely 1.3b: remove create/change/read cookies from js in the Script & plugin panel. To avoid the slashdot and mozillazine (and user) mess (see bug 172097)
Nomintating: 131456 Memory use does not go down after closing tabs 171681 Closing tabs/windows containing large images does not free memory 174760 Memory leak when loading jpg images
argh! sorry, i need more sleep...
Nominating: Bug 69938 Downloads are stored in /tmp regardless of path selection Bug 176999 JavaScript error generated by invoking Tool Menu items Bug 138633 Esc key should close element properties dialog. Bug 121084 cache: Images requested twice -> "The image cannot be displayed,
Nominating: Bug 179391 Crash on quit after proxied release of nsHttpTransaction
Nominating bug 159642. This is a bookmark bug that causes dataloss.
Nominate bug 65794: Mozilla mail should allow user to select how attachments are handled (inline or not). Makes mail useless in some cases if attachments are done improperly.
also nominate bug 55365: Delete bookmark causes bookmark with same name to disappear from tree.
Nominating: Bug 158285 comment 16 [ possibly XUL.mfl ] Bug 169777 [ related ] Bug 182795 [ problems ] Bug 166442 [related to: Reappearance of PopUp Blocking] Bug 82775 [multiple reply-to when default reply-to exists and a draft is used] Bug 58744 [3rd party download managers not supported]
from http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1.2#c69 I would like to nominate Bug 167152. It has 6 votes. IMHO it's a good alignment trying to have on all plattforms the same Bugs. Today you can pick multiple files under windows, but not under Linux. It's the most sucking Bug for me.
I'd like to nominate 2 bugs completely breaking e-banking at 2 major European Banks: bug 171235 - cookies not recognised at meine.deutsche-bank.de bug 181440 - UBS E-Banking broken because of regression in processing forms and cookies
Erich 'Ricky' Iseli: The nomination for bug 171235 is stupid because it's a Tech Evang bug and that means that this is a error in the page and we can't fix it in mozilla itself.
Matti, Thanks for pointing that out. I was caught by the similarity of these two bugs (summary) and didn't pay attention to the component.
Nominating bug 183165, which upset me ! :-\
bug 123668 for much better javascript performance, which is long awaited.
I can't disagree on bug 123668. Brendan says it's risky (comment 41), so alpha is a good time to land it, and it's footprint and perf, good to have.
Nominating - bug 150535 : classic theme needs new icons - bug 181394 : it would be good that junk mail is fully enabled.
Two longly awaited MailNews "blocking" bugs: bug 43923 - Support for APOP bug 90584 - charset=... must be applied for Subject:/From:/To:/etc. fields The latter one is very annoying for international users.
Alias: 1.3a → 1.3b
Sorry, I hit the wrong button. pi
Alias: 1.3b → 1.3a
Bug 62010 Back menu session history should be unbounded has a patch and works. Could someone review the patch, so we can land it for 1.3a? pi
Nominating: Bug 115981 Quick access to "Favorites" directory in the "Open" and "Save As..." dialogues in Windows. (one-click access to all your favorite directories is GREAT)
How about the 94 memory-leak bugs still at large? Should a portion of them be squashed in some kind of "memory-shield" action? And are there any serious performance bugs costing something like O(n*n), O(n*n*n), O(n*log n) etc etc?
Please don't comment in this bug citing other bugs that have no fix in sight. We do not aim to hold 1.3alpha indefinitely for any particular fix; we plan to ship it in a week at most. If some of the bugs mentioned in comments here have patches that don't need work (my patch for bug 123668 needs work), please help get code review to the appropriate level, then bring them to drivers' attention. /be
Depends on: 183309
No longer depends on: 183309

In today news from mozillazine: "Trunk Frozen for Mozilla 1.3 Alpha", please include the bug 183559 - "Images not displayed in mail messages in local & POP folders, IMAP OK", is regression, has review and superreview, waiting approval.
I'd like to see bug 77345 - browser window can't display too many multiple search engines at once getting into 1.3a. It's a small fix and it has a reviewed patch. Only lacking super-review and all my tentatives to get SR up to now failed.
Following comment #40, I looked at all the bugs (even the huge list of comment #4), and here is the list of bugs which can match with comment #40 (r, sr, and even sometimes a flag) - bug 52821 - bug 153092 - bug 142196 - bug 30431 - bug 91662 - bug 132250 - bug 176999 - bug 183559 - bug 181440 Just my little 0,02$ :-) Thanks for making mozilla :-)
Re Comment #44. I agree with Brendan's comments. However, I'm confused as to how Bug #112789 fulfills his criteria. The patch is over a year old. There is no R, SR or A. Or am I missing something?
bug 43923 - the requirements of comment #44 seem to be fulfilled and this is very important for many corporate users I know. This feature also gets often cited as "important but missing" in comparisons of email clients.
johann: bug 43923 doesn't meet the requirements - the patch is 8 months old, and will therefore certainly need work on it. in general, any bug with a patch that's more than a few weeks old isn't going to be ready in less than a week.
If Bug #112789 meets the requirements (its patch is over 12 months old), then I see no reason why Bug #43923 wouldn't meet requirements as its patch is only 8 months old.
> Should a portion of [the memory leaks] them be squashed Should? Yes. But memory leaks are notoriously hard to pin down. Regarding patch age: eight months, twelve months, both are ancient, but a smaller patch is less likely to have rotted than a larger one.
nominating bug 184029 - hang with nested iframe/javascript. this is a recent parser regression that has the potential to bust many sites that use such things for banner ads.
Nominating bug 182460 - crash. This bug is critical for intranet XML applications.
Nominating bug 184986 which is really a /pain in the .../ ! It is really annoying and could be considered as a blocker :-/
Frederic (and anyone else thinking of adding to this bug): 1.3a has already been tagged in preparation for release, so it's too late to put anything else into it. also, with the new flags, posting comments in these tracker bugs isn't the right way to nominate things any more - instead, set the flag on the bug itself (for example, set "blocking1.3b" to "?" to nominate for 1.3b).
Thanks Michael for these infos. I modified Blocking1.3b for bug 184986 and nominating for this future version.

nominating bug 50504 : Missing context menu on personal bookmarks WHY Any advertised mozilla release should have at least an important UI enanchement that the common occasional user can't avoid to see, otherwise wont be motivated enough to upgrade and test the new release, even if it solve hundreds of non visual bugs. WHY 1.3a WILL SUCK IF NOT IMPLEMENTED A better handling of bookmarks and a comprehensive support for contextual menu i think is a loooong awaited feature that must be implemented in order to make new adepts from IE. Rolling out this in 1.3a or 1.3b increase the timeframe for deeply test this feature for 1.3 release. Unfortunately for mozilla, despite i like this browser so much, i recognize that IE is a very inspired and very efficient product, and if mozilla want to survive must be at least on pair implementing a large part of innovative features that users are since long time used to. I would personally not reccomend mozilla without this so obvious feature that can make so many users "feel at home" using it.
