I know, I know! Animated GIF's! Who cares? Well, I don't personally care a lot. But if you're going to have the world's best web client, then it needs to do animated GIFs really well. There are some outstanding bugs in this area, the bug numbers of which I'm going to try to find. If anyone wants to add or subtract bugs from the list, please do so. Thanks.
Well, you beat me to this bug. I will be going through the various dependencies and trying to sort out exactly what is going on in each case. Many of these bugs are twisted, confused, and overlapping. There are only a certain number of features of GIF89a that we aren't following properly, and until we narrow down exactly what those are, we really can't fix them.
I would say that resolving these bugs for Mozilla 1.0 is critical ! IE will not be scared by browsers having problems displaying "simple" gifs ! A enourmous work is needed on ImageLib imho...
You can nominate bugs for 1.0 by adding "Moazilla 1.0" to the keywords line.
I no longer have time to maintain this. If anyone is interested in taking it, please assign it to yourself. If there is no longer interest in this, we can resolve it as invalid.

I don't think that anyone else needs this tracking bug. There is no change since 2008
But still some bugs are pending and open in this list e.g. 129986
